Stephen Sondheim’s masterpiece Sunday in the Park with George tells the story of painter George Seurat, and his muse and partner Dot.  In the second act, the piece opens up to a contemporary storyline where the lines between past and present are explored, as George’s great-grandson George presents his own modern art, and in the company of his grandmother debates the very life, choices, and art he has made.  Written by James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim, this powerful Pulitzer prize-winning musical is, among many things, a memorable and passionate meditation on the artistic process.

With Raúl Esparza as George and Melissa as Dot/Marie, the production directed by Eric Schaeffer was the first major revival since the original Broadway version–and was a highlight of the spectacular and prestigious Sondheim Celebration at The Kennedy Center in Washington, DC.
